Anker was raised with respect and appreciation for the great outdoors. Following in his father's footsteps, he began to volunteer for the Tennessee Wildlife Federation. He became familiar with Hatfield Knob and The Elk Viewing Tower while chaperoning wildlife outings for inner city schools. Later as a board member for the TWF, he continuously spoke about the importance of the tower and encouraged interest in the rebuilding project. Now that the new tower is complete, he knows it will continue to have an impact on future stewards of the Tennessee Outdoors.
